Now, I give up!

For several weeks I have struggled and struggled with the book right attitude to rain by , but now it no longer. The book is boring, boring, uninteresting, uneventful and completely worthless. It took me about five weeks to read about a third of the book. That says it all!

After many enthusiastic comments and articles about this wonderful writer I thought of giving him a fair chance. But I simply do not understand his greatness. No, I understand there simply is not ...?

I read the first book in his series of Isabel Dalhousie and did not think much about it. I thought it was stiff and a little gray, the characters restrained and a bit isolated. His Mma Ramotswe series however, is full of wonderful characters and environments, and warm humor and compassion.

There is much good to read, but if you're standing in a bookstore and not really think of anything to buy, I think you are going to try a Precious Ramotswe book. They are also often written almost as a series of short stories, which means that you can read them every now and then.

Catherine: I guess the reason I simply could not cope with the Smith's because he does not fall into my favorite genre is thriller. I have made several honest attempts to read other literature, but few writers outside the genre that really appeals to me. Diana Gabaldon is such, Marian Keyes (some of her books, but not all) is another. However, not all mysteries not as up to scratch. Right now I am reading "Death solves all problems" by Reginald Hill and it is certainly special. More on that in a future review.

    Hi

I like Akimbo, but he produces too much else I think. Is good with Mma Ramotswe. Did know that more films are in the pipeline on DVD. The first movie was pretty good I think.
    Happy holidays!

      Hi Gunnar!
I have not read the books about Akimbo and it is unlikely that I will do it either.
The films - or perhaps the movie - I have missed, but it is not surprising: I see rarely, if ever film.

      Happy holidays!
